Special thanks to the workers in Thailand for letting us listen in a bit to what they are doing.

Learning does not seem to respect international boarders - all people learn - and learn people do.

Thanks for listening.  You are the greatest.

Tell your friends.

PAPod 47 - Beyond Blame - Dave Zwieback (Greatest Hits Series)

23Sep

Best Safety Podcast, Safety Program, Safety Storytelling, Investigations, Human Performance, Safety Differently, Operational Excellence, Resilience Engineering, Safety and Resilience Incentives

There is a new book in town.... and it is a good one.   Beyond Blame is a story about how one organization had to move past the old ways of viewing the world and start looking at new ways to learn and improve.

This podcast is a crossover between DevOps, High Reliability Computing, Safety, Human Performance, Operations, and pretty much any other process that is too risky to leave alone and too valuable to fail.  I love the fact that our worlds are colliding and combining.  You will really like this podcast no matter which world you operate within...he says, ending a sentence with a preposition.

Dave Zwieback has been working with complex, mission-critical I.T. services and teams for two decades. His career spans small high-tech startups, non-profits, and behemoth engineering, financial services, and pharmaceutical firms.  He is involved in the AWSOME POSTMORTEMS workshops!. Almost everything about Dave is cool.  Listen and find out more.  Thanks for being a part of the podcast.  You make the podcast go!!!

What do people most want to hear?  What do people listen to the most?  Do our workers listen to managers?

We know workers are poeple - and we know what poeple want to hear.

Here is a stab at making a point around this...

Thanks for listening to the podcast.  Tell your friends and invite them to be a part of this discussion.

Peace and be good to each other.

PAPod 140- Two Tragic Stories about Controls, Resilience, and Recovery - The Great Bill Rigot

16Sep

Best Safety Podcast, Safety Program, Safety Storytelling, Investigations, Human Performance, Safety Differently, Operational Excellence, Resilience Engineering, Safety and Resilience Incentives.

We learn by telling and listening to stories.  Today is a big learning day for all of us.  Friend of the Pod, Bill Rigot, tells to stories of his life that illustrate the power of understanding recovery and controls.

Listen to this episode a couple times.  This is an intense look and some very serious failures with the intent of not preventing the next event, but in fact controlling the next consequence.

I think you will learn much from these stories.

Please tell your peers and your friends - more listeners is more fun.  Subscribe and write a review.  Do it now so you don't forget.

Thanks for listening to the podcast.  You make this a successful community of ideas.  Thanks

13Sep

Best Safety Podcast, Safety Program, Safety Storytelling, Investigations, Human Performance, Safety Differently, Operational Excellence, Resilience Engineering, Safety and Resilience Incentives...

A little discussion on the actual cost of makeing improvements and getting better.

It is often free...

Removing goal conflicts, getting rid of stupid procedures, improveing - really costs nothing.

You should do it more.  So few things are actually free.

Thanks for listening to the Podcast.  You are the best.   Keep listening and tell your friends.

Thanks a million for being a part of the podcast.

Safety Moment - A Process for Process Improvements

6Sep

Best Safety Podcast, Safety Program, Safety Storytelling, Investigations, Human Performance, Safety Differently, Operational Excellence, Resilience Engineering, Safety and Resilience Incentives.

You can have the best ideas in the world, but if you don't have a way to execute on those ideas they really don't matter much.

Much of our improvement failures happen because we have not taken the time to talk about and create a system to use to improve.  Seriously, improvement doesn't happen by magic or accident.  Build a way for improvement to happen - and it will happen.

Thanks for listening.  Tell your friends and subscribe - will ya?  Peace - Todd Out

PAPod 138 - A Podcast Response to Harvey

2Sep

Best Safety Podcast, Safety Program, Safety Storytelling, Investigations, Human Performance, Safety Differently, Operational Excellence, Resilience Engineering, Safety and Resilience Incentives.

This week has been horrific.  Watching and texting back and forth with all my friends in the pathway of Herrican Harvey.  i can't express how much my thoughts and actions were influenced by the pain, loss, and suffering that memebers of our community were experiencing.

This is a quick response to how disaster makes us feel and the importance of restoration and recovery - leading to resillience is vital as the path forward.

We are thinking of you.

Peace.
