There are several people that have been thinking and fighting for Safety Differently when it was not so easy. In fact there are folks who were really pretty much beat up by the safety community - the old school safety community. Really! It was not pretty, making a case that worker behavior is not the solution for corporate safety.
I try to think about these folks. There really was a time when what we talk about would have been "laughed" out the safety room.
We owe some poeple thanks! That is why you should meet Mike Wright.
Mike Wright is the Director of Health and Safety for the Steelworkers. He is one of the best guys in the industry. This podcast episode will enlighten and educate you. Give it a listen!
Thanks for listening and subscribing to the podcast.

We spend a lot of time thinking how lucky we are.
I am not sure we are lucky...I do think we get smarter and smarter. We learn from what happens, or almost happens, we improve and we get better...and better...and better...
This is a sweet little OE moment. See what you think?

When given two ways to describe how something fails - always pick the simplest idea.
Occam's Razor has been around along time.
Sometimes little rules to live by save time, save energy, save emotion, and are the smartest ways to begin exploring and explaining the universe around you.

I am really mixed on this episode. On one hand I am kind of freaked out that it does not include a conversation with some experts on this topic. On the other hand I am completely disappointed with the experts on this topic.
We are thinking about fatalities wrong...

We want bad accidents to be predictive. We want a way to tell our organization that something bad is about to happen. We want Heinrich's pyramid to be accurate, effective, and predictive...
That is what we want. It is not what we have.
Bad accidents hide in normal work. That is what this safety moment discusses.
Thanks for listening to the podcast. You make this show go. You are the greatest.

I recored this episode of the PAPod in a hotel lounge in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was a beautiful day and we had just had an amazing event with a group of senior operations leaders.
I just mentioned to the COO, Angela Durkin, that I wiould love to get her on the podcast and she said yes. You never want to give a senior leader much time to think about the decision to be on the podcast because they will think of many reasons why it is not the best idea.
So we grabbed a couple of chairs and had a discussion. It was great. Thanks to Maersk and Angela for making this happen. You will like this podcast a lot.
Thanks to you as well. You make the podcast go. It is very fun to have you on board. Tell your friends and get ready for some fun.

Organizations that are good a reliability use one trick. They keep the discussion of risk alive, operationally, everyday.
Sounds easy? It is not an easy thing to do, but it is a vital way to create real-time safety in all the work you do.
Thanks for being part of the podcast. Happy July 4th a day late.
Tell your friends to listen. It really helps us out a lot.
